One
of the fruits of staff development is that
teaching staff begins to think about their
teaching and to see value in sharing their
ideas with fellow colleagues. Coupled with
this is a strong desire to introduce new
ideas learnt in the training courses. If
this is to happen then these ideas have
to be translated into meaningful teaching
strategies for teachers. The what, how,
when and where of teaching have to be rethought.
Consequently values in education change
bringing about different learning experiences
for students. A new curriculum is thus born.
It is through this process
that Beaconhouse Educational Services has
now totally revamped its Early Years and
lower Primary curricula in almost all of
its curriculum areas. Care is taken to systematically
evaluate new curricula ensuring maximum
input from practicing teachers and schools
so that students benefit the most. Curriculum
research and development have become part
of the fabric of Beaconhouse. Redesigned
curricula may be considered of value by
other schools in the private and public
sectors as they seek to implement modern
educational strategies within the frame
work of our cultural values. The new curricula
are one of the most significant achievements
of Beaconhouse. |
